Ceramic Precision Balls

Ceramic Bearing Balls & Spheres

Precision Plastic Ball has more than 60 years of experience in the precision industry and we have expanded our capabilities to the development and manufacturing of ceramic precision balls and spheres. Ceramic bearing balls are spherical in shape and are used for a variety of applications including ceramic ball bearings, check and ball valves, and other mechanical devices that provide a linear motion.

Why Ceramic Bearing Balls?

Ceramic precision balls offer a variety of useful characteristics, such as being very resistant to corrosion and abrasion even in high-speed environments. With the right material combination, customers can also see a significantly reduced thermal conductivity as well as the ability to hold up in extreme temperatures.

The combination of high heat tolerances, reduced friction, and low-heat absorption allows ceramic balls to perform in demanding conditions which gives you the opportunity to spend less on systems to keep the entire process cool.

Ceramic Materials

Ceramics include a wide range of materials. Contact us today to learn about all of your options.

In the modern precision ball space, companies like us use ceramic materials that improve the typical ceramic benefits relative to heat strength and a reduction in friction.

Ceramic balls and spheres that use a silicon nitride are able to deliver optimal performance in high-speed bearings. They perform well under high loads, speeds, and temperatures. Many deployments require no lubrication, making them ideal for areas such as aeronautics where lubricant systems may be unavailable.

Zirconia precision balls are operable in temperatures of up to 1800° F and are inert to corrosive materials. Note that highly concentrated sulfuric and hydrofluoric acid can damage these ceramics.

Alumina oxide is a top ceramic choice because of its resistance to corrosion and operating temperature slightly under that of ruby sapphire ceramics. However, this material is more susceptible to damage if it comes into contact with hydrochloric and hydrofluoric acids or strong alkaline environments.

Current Industries

Precision ceramic balls have played a significant role in machinery and applications in:
